Things did not go the Mariners' way early, as they fell behind the Blue Jays 8-1 after five innings. While a deciding Game 3 seemed imminent, Seattle roared back, tying the game with a four-run eighth inning before taking the lead and the series in the ninth.
The tide of Saturday's game swung with two outs in the eighth inning. Blue Jays centerfielder George Springer collided with shortstop Bo Bichette while attempting to catch a shallow pop fly off the bat of J.P. Crawford. Neither Springer nor Bichette came up with the ball, and Crawford ended up at second with a bases-clearing double, tying the game 9-9.
George Kirby came in to close the door in the bottom half of the inning, getting Raimel Tapia to fly out to Julio Rodriguez for the final out.
The Mariners now move on to the ALDS, where they'll match up against the Houston Astros. The Astros will host the Mariners for Game 1 on Tuesday, start time still to be determined.
